WEB PERFORMANCE GUIDE

Why does website speed matter?

A fast website improves the user experience, helps visitors stay on the page and supports conversion rates. Slow pages can lead to lost users and weaker search visibility.

01

Better user experience

Fast-loading pages let visitors reach the content they want sooner and browse the site comfortably.

02

SEO visibility

Page experience and Core Web Vitals signals are among the indicators Google uses when evaluating search results.

03

Higher conversions

Performance improvements support key user actions such as filling in forms, buying and getting in touch.

MEASURED METRICS

How should I read the performance report?

Rather than a single score, look at the metrics together to see at which stage the page slows down. Results can vary with the test device, connection and server load.

  • LCP — Largest Contentful PaintMeasures when the largest content element on the page becomes visible.
  • CLS — Cumulative Layout ShiftEvaluates unexpected visual shifts on the page while it loads.
  • FCP — First Contentful PaintMeasures when the user first sees text or image content on screen.
  • TBT — Total Blocking TimeShows the total time the main thread could not respond to user input.

The CodeStup website speed test can be used to measure mobile and desktop performance, see the PageSpeed score and review Largest Contentful Paint, First Contentful Paint, Total Blocking Time, Cumulative Layout Shift and Speed Index values.

A single test reflects current conditions. For a more reliable picture, run several measurements at different times. Image optimization, caching, reducing unnecessary JavaScript and CSS, correct server configuration and a CDN can significantly improve web performance.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Common questions about the site speed test

How do I run a website speed test?

Enter the website address, choose a mobile or desktop device and press “Start Analysis”. When the test is complete, the performance score, loading metrics and improvement suggestions are shown.

What is a good PageSpeed score?

90–100 is good, 50–89 needs improvement and 0–49 is considered poor. When evaluating the user experience, look at the Core Web Vitals metrics as well as the overall score.

Why are mobile and desktop results different?

The mobile test simulates more limited processing power and network connection. That's why it's normal for the mobile score to be lower than the desktop score.

Why does the result change with every test?

Server load, network conditions, third-party services and cache state can affect the result. For a reliable average, repeat the test a few times at different times.
